Queen of the South is the gripping crime drama that had everyone on edge throughout the first four seasons. Sadly, earlier this year, USA Network announced the series would be coming to an end with just one last season to air. While those in the States have been lucky enough to watch the last remaining episodes, international fans have yet to even start season five.

When is season 5 of Queen of the South coming to Netflix?

Queen of the South season five landed on USA Network on Wednesday, April 7.

The series is made up of 10 episodes in total, airing weekly every Wednesday on the network.

The grand finale was then shown on USA Network on Wednesday, June 9, much to US fans’ delight.

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for those in the UK or anyone else in the world who relies on Netflix for their Teresa Mendoza (played by Alice Braga) fix.

As of yet, Netflix hasn’t announced when Queen of the South series five will be added to its library.

The streaming service has revealed which new shows are going to be added for August.

Sadly, Queen of the South wasn’t included and so will not be out in the next few weeks.

However, going by previous release dates, Express.co.uk can take an educated guess as to when the final 10 episodes are going to be ready to watch.

Season four of Queen of the South was added in May 2020, nine months after the finale was shown on USA Network.

The same happened with series three, as there was a nine-month gap between the finale release date and the season coming out on Netflix.

So if the streamer was to once again follow this pattern, then Queen of the South season five could be available from March 2022.

But one of the show’s creators did come out earlier this year and give international fans some hope that it could be sooner than normal.

Script doctor Barry Cadwell took to Facebook to discuss the potential Queen of the South season five release date.

He teased that there were talks going on behind the scenes to try and push the Netflix release date forward.

Caldwell said: “Regarding Netflix and non-US broadcast TV, we have no idea.

“In the first four seasons, we hit Netflix one year after the TV premiere. That would normally put the Netflix premiere in April 2022.

“HOWEVER, we are trying to get it pulled up sooner. This is all we know at the present time.”

Season four ended with the dramatic return of fan-favourite James Valdez (Peter Gadiot).

He was missing for the majority of series four but made a comeback when he frantically drove up to Teresa, covered in his own blood.

James had arrived to give her warning, telling her that there was a pending danger but the finale ended before it was revealed who.

Queen of the South is available to watch on USA Network and Netflix.
