When does The Great British Bake Off 2019 start on Channel 4?

BAKE Off fans are chomping at the biscuit for the next series.

And with last year seeing the first vegan challenge, many are wondering what's in store in this year's serving. Find out below for more…

When is the Bake Off 2019 start date?

Currently, The Great British Bake Off is expected to return to Channel 4 in August, but an official date has yet to be confirmed.

Last year the hit show started on Tuesday, August 28, 2018, so if this year follows a similar format we could be looking at Tuesday, 27th August 2019

The show usually runs consecutively for ten weeks, so we can expect a similar format with this series.

This would mean that the baking show will be on our screens until October – similarly to previous years.

The show will be aired on Channel 4 for the third year running and we can expect it will stick to its usual airtime of 8pm.

With that said, we're still waiting for confirmation from Channel 4, so hold tight.

Are Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith returning?

As yet we haven't heard any news of a major shakeup, so we can expect that everyone's favourite P's – Paul and Prue – will be returning.

Let’s face it, without Paul, the show just wouldn’t be the same, and while Channel 4 has yet to confirm his return, it’s more than likely that he’ll be back.

Likewise, Mary Berry's replacement Prue Leith hasn't been said to be leaving the show – so we can quite safely assume we'll be seeing her this series.

Elsewhere, Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig are likely to reprise their role as hosts of the popular TV programme.

Who won Bake Off 2018?

Last year it was Rahul, 30, a research scientist from Rotherham, who won the series.

He grew up in Kolkata, India, and moved to the UK to study when he was 23.

His baking style is East-meets-West and he enjoys making sure his creations are structurally elegant.

What’s the prize?

You may be shocked to know that there isn’t actually a prize to be won when competing with other contestants in The Great British Bake Off… rather the prize of pride!

Fans of the show know that the winner is usually presented with flowers and a cake stand, which sounds pretty underwhelming after all their toil in the kitchen.

However, it’s commonly known that the winners of the show often go on to make a fortune from endorsement deals, sponsorships and appearances.
