Tipping Point's Ben Shephard berates player to 'be braver' after throwing away chance at 10k

TIPPING Point's Ben Shephard told a player to "be braver" after she threw away the chance at winning the cash jackpot.

Thursday night's instalment of the ITV game show saw Phoebe, Fiorella, Hugh and Ricky take on the machine in a bid to win £10,000.

Medical student Phoebe managed to get all the way to the final round with £1,900 in the bank.

After answering a question wrong about Megan Markle's real name, she thought the safest option was to go home with what she'd managed to win – £3,050.

Ben offered her the chance to trade her win with the three final counters to shift the jackpoint.

However Phoebe decided to play it safe to put the money towards her trip to South America.

They then played out what would have happened if she did.

Ben shouted: "Phoebe did you see that?!" as the second counter shifted the jackpoint counter.

Phoebe replied: "Oh no!"

Ben said: "Just the most heartbreaking thing, I wanted to give you the jackpot! Look it doesn't matter, £3050 is going to be enough to get you to South America, you also won your lovely family break to the Cotswolds."

The host then turned to the camera and said goodbye to the viewers.

He couldn't hide his disappointment as he wished she'd plucked up the courage to take the offer.

Ben said: "There we go, Phoebe's leaving with £3,050, she was pretty certain she wasn't going to take the trade… if she'd justbeen that little bit braver and taken it, she'd be leaving with £10,000!"

Fans of the show thought the same.

One wrote on Twitter: "Gutted for Phoebe. I liked her. She reminded me of my sister. Enjoyed her game, but buggered up at the end."

Another said: "Bad lucky, Phoebe. Well played."

It comes after viewers claimed they have "proof" that the machine favoured a contestant during Wednesday's show.

Lucy, Ethan, Catherine and Phil took on the machine, but it was Lucy, a carer from Swansea, who got off to a flying start.

She banked £1,050 and 21 counters in the first round, while Phil was eliminated after banking just £200.

Although it's just pot luck how the machine works, viewers joke that there's a magnet man who favours contestants.

And after last night's show, they think they have proof he exists.

Viewers were left convinced that Lucy's success was all because of the magnet man.

One wrote on Twitter: "Lucy has paid off Magnet Man, I am sure of it. She wants Ben."

Another said: "Looks like Magnet Man is working overtime today."

A third chimed in: "Magnet Man denies Phil"

A fourth added: "Magnet Man is on fire today."

"Proof there is a Magnet Man," a fifth said.
