Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield were dealt a surprise during Wednesday’s episode of This Morning, when a caller hung up live on air as he wasn’t ready to play Spin To Win yet.
The TV hosts called viewers at random to find someone to play and when they finally got through to Joe, they asked him if he could guess the code word to play the game.
However, Joe put the phone down up after explaining that he had an issue to deal with at home, meaning he wasn’t ready to play just yet.
Joe said: “Can you call me back in two minutes please?” before hanging up.
Phillip screamed :“no, no, no. We can’t!” as a stunned Holly replied: “is he joking?”
Phillip then added: “Has he gone? What the hell was that? What are we supposed to do for two minutes?”
The daytime show then cut to a pre-recorded competition whilst they waited for Joe to return.
When Joe returned he apologised and Phillip asked why they had to call him back.
Joe explained: “Because I was dealing with my wife and she’s not very well, she has motor neurone disease.”
Holly responded by saying “aww, that makes perfect sense!” as Phillip said it was “the best excuse in the world”.
Joe went on to say that a nurse had just come over to help look after his wife and he ended up winning £1000 as he decided to play the game using the wheel.
