The Larkins will be set in Kent during the 1950s, following the rural lifestyle of the Larkin family. Starring the likes of actor, presenter and comedian Bradley Walsh and actress Joanna Scanlan, the ITV series is going to take fans back to a simpler time where technology wasn’t at the heart of society. Some viewers will already be very familiar with the story of the humble family of eight.
The Larkins is based on the novel series The Darling Buds of May, written by HE Bates.
The books were originally brought to life more than three decades ago for TV with actors David Jason and Catherine Zeta-Jones leading the cast.
So far, it isn’t clear how different this new series is going to be from the previous show and books but already it hasn’t been given a new name.
The comedy-drama’s creator has also given a slight indication that some adjustments are going to be made.

Writer Simon Nye has said that the series will be “expanding the Larkins’ world a little”.
There has been no indication as to what this could mean but perhaps fans are going to see more than just the inner workings of their small village Pluckley.
This isn’t the first time in recent years that ITV has chosen to give a new lease of life to a book based on a fun-loving family.
The Durrells, which was based on the novel series where a family packs their bags and head to Corfu, started airing on ITV back in 2016.
