Just like the rest of his cast mates, Brandon Lee has a lot of drama in his personal life that viewers will get to see on The Hills: New Beginnings.

Though he is youngest and newest member on the show, Lee’s life hasn’t been a walk in the park in the slightest.

In fact, the model hasn’t had the best relationship with his father, Mötley Crüe drummer, Tommy Lee, for most of his childhood.

Now that Brandon Lee is showcasing his personal life on The Hills reboot, is he planning on giving fans insight into his rocky relationship with his father?

Brandon and Tommy Lee have had a rocky relationship for years

For the past few years, Brandon Lee hasn’t been able to connect with his dad, Tommy Lee, one a level most fathers and sons connect on.

With Tommy Lee touring around the world with his band, Mötley Crüe, for a majority of his son’s life, the two haven’t had the chance to bond over the years.

According to sources, Tommy Lee’s constant touring was the main reason for him and his son’s strained relationship.

“Tommy thinks Brandon resents him for working so much when Brandon was young, and he likes to believe that has caused most of their issues,” a source told Entertainment Tonight.

As Brandon Lee grew older, he started spending time with his father a lot more in an attempt to strengthen their bond.

“As Brandon has grown older, he has tried to build a positive relationship with his father,” ET’s source says. “He wants better for his father. He wants to help him live a clean life and to mend their troubled past.”

However, after years of trying to maintain a solid relationship, Tommy and Brandon Lee just couldn’t seem to see eye to eye.

Their relationship became even more strained after the musician got engaged to former Vine star Brittany Furlan, on Valentine’s Day last year.

It has been said that since Furlan does not get along with Pamela Anderson, it ended up causing another rift between Tommy and Brandon Lee. 

“Brandon resents that Tommy has chosen a fiancee that treats his mother poorly,” the source shared.

Though their relationship has had it’s ups and downs, Brandon and Tommy Lee have tried to work toward a solid father and son bond.

Things were initially going well for them but took an unexpected turn just last year.

In March 2018, the father and son made headlines after Brandon Lee allegedly assaulted his father in his bedroom at his home in Calabasas, California.

Since the attack happened while Lee was filming The Hills: New Beginnings, the model is a little apprehensive to see that moment in his life again.

“I mean, that’s something that I’ve tried to keep private between me and my dad, but it’s definitely, you know, it’s inevitable that it spills over onto my show,” Lee told ET‘s Katie Krause during the show’s L.A. premiere. “It’s a big part of my life. It’s something that was really prevalent in my life at the time, during most of the filming process. So I think you’ll get to see a little bit of that. It [was] definitely a hard time for both of us.”

Lee continued by explaining that though he and his father got into an altercation, they were able to make amends in December and have maintained a close relationship.

“I feel like I was pretty angry when I was filming, so I don’t remember what I said, which is, like, kind of nerve-wracking too. I tried to tell him the other day, like, ‘Dude, I don’t know if I said anything crazy.’ But who knows, you know?” he continued. “I was really upset when all that stuff was going on. But friends fight. He’s like my best friend, so people get over it.”
