Strictly Come Dancing contestant Tom Fletcher opened up to fans about how ‘frustrating’ it was to be absent from the latest episode of the BBC dance competition.
Last weekend’s first live show saw Tom and Amy Dowden kick off proceedings as the new series got underway.
However, after a Saturday night’s episode went without a hitch, the couple revealed just hours later they had both received positive Covid-19 tests.
This meant they had to go into isolation for 10 days and would have to miss the next live show.
Tom gave his fans on Instagram an update a few hours before the second programme, and shared his frustrations over his absence.
He said on his Instagram stories: ‘Morning all, just had another mammoth 11-hour sleep, don’t know where these are coming from.
‘They’re not going to last long when I get out of isolation, that’s for sure!
‘Today’s a tough day, it’s Strictly day and I’m going to be watching Strictly tonight… cheering everyone on,’ he promised.
Tom went on to add: ‘I’m desperately, desperately wishing I was there dancing, I know Amy will be doing the same, so it’ll be incredibly frustrating.
‘What is even more frustrating is not being able to see my kids, he reflected.
He also shared with fans he had been watching his young children play outside from the window as admitted not being with them was ‘really hard.’
Amy shared an update ahead of missing the upcoming instalment but reassured fans she was ‘grateful’ knowing she should be able to return next week.
Next to a sweet pre-show snap with Tom, she wrote: ‘I can’t tell you how much I am missing today’s band call, hair and make up, dress run and the nerves of a live show!
‘I can’t even begin to explain but so grateful to be able to return next week for movie week with the lovely @tomfletcher.’
‘Sending all my love and luck in the World to all the fabulous couples today. I’m going to be on the edge of my sofa shouting and supporting you all (you will probs hear me at Elstree)! Tune in tonight 18.45 for another great show,’ she told supporters.
The duo will be able to return for week three as long as they both report negative Covid tests beforehand.
Strictly Come Dancing airs tonight at 6:45pm on BBC One.
