Bill, 55, was unveiled as the seventh celebrity to be taking part in this year’s edition of Strictly Come Dancing and fans are certainly excited to see him strutting his stuff on the dance floor. For years, the comedian has been wanting to showcase his talents and next month, he will perform for BBC viewers and the judging panel for the very first time. However, there has been some doubt about his participation in the competition, with some believing he could be the first casualty of the season. It Takes Two presenter Zoe Ball, 49, is backing the funny man as she has predicted her winner for the upcoming run of the programme.

Speaking on Friday’s edition of The One Show, the presenter spoke about her thoughts on this year’s line-up of all-stars.

Host Alex Jones, 43, asked her colleague: “It’s difficult, but if you had to predict a winner at this stage…” but before she could finish, Zoe jumped in.

“A winner? I haven’t seen them dance yet,” she explained but stated: “Bill Bailey, all the way. Come on Bill, you’ve got this.”

“Can you imagine when he’s moving his hair – it’s going to sway around. He’s going to be phenomenal,” the former contestant added.

So, despite what some sceptics are saying, could the comedian go all the way and claim the Glitterball Trophy?

The latest odds from Coral bookmakers have Bill as one of the celebrities most likely to leave the competition first.

Matching the odds of former Home Secretary Jacqui Smith, 57, the comedian is at 50/1 to take the crown from reigning champion, Kelvin Fletcher, 36.

Spokesperson Harry Aitkenhead said: “We think Bill and Jacqui [Smith] are going to be battling it out for who is the first to be voted off and sent packing.”

Even though he has Zoe’s support, it seems the presenter thinks another famous face could also go all the way.

Olympic boxer Nicola Adams, 37, will make history when she takes to the dance floor as one half of the first same-sex couple to compete on the show.

Zoe said of the sportswoman’s chances of winning the Glitterball Trophy later this year: “Athletes are always very good.

“Nicola – part of the first female partnership – that’s going to be amazing to watch,” she continued with Alex Jones adding: “I don’t know much about boxing, but I think they’re quite light of their feet.”

According to Coral bookmakers, the boxer sits in fifth position, with her odds of claiming victory at 8/1.

Speaking of the cast as a whole, Zoe opined: “You look at that line-up and until you actually see them, you just don’t know. It’s exciting.”

Although there is lots of speculation about who could win, EastEnders actress Maisie Smith, 19, is the current frontrunner and the contestant to beat at the moment.

It seems soap fans have been eager to put their support behind the star as she leads the charge at 2/1 to become champion.

This comes the back off the youngster claiming victory when she took part in the 2019 special for Children in Need.

Coral’s Harry Aitkenhead added: “Punters are backing Maisie Smith to be the winner of Strictly 2020 as we head towards the beginning of the new series, with the Eastenders star the hot favourite.”

Not far off her heels in singer and The Wanted star Max George, 32, whose former band member Jay McGuiness, 30, took the title back in 2015.

At 5/1, he is Maisie’s closest competition, with teen sensation HRVY, 21, matching his odds of winning the series.

With reports suggesting the new season will begin in little over a month’s time, who will pull out all the stops to impress the viewers and judges?

Strictly Come Dancing returns next month on BBC One.
