Star Wars: Marvel boss Kevin Feige denies involvement in new film series

Star Wars: Rogue Squadron teased by director Patty Jenkins

Star Wars fans saw the end to a third trilogy in 2019 with The Rise of Skywalker. The epic film saga saw Rey (played by Daisy Ridley) defeating the evil Emperor (Ian McDiarmid) alongside Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), bringing the Skywalker series of films to an end, once again. However, fans have been keen to find out more information about the future of the series.

At the moment, only a handful of Star Wars films have been confirmed.

It was revealed last month that Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins would be taking on a new film in the Star Wars universe titled Rogue Squadron.

Other than that, however, most of the upcoming Star Wars content is being released through Disney’s streaming program, Disney Plus.

There have been a collection of rumours on the topic, though, with a number of them suggesting a new sequence of films will be released in the coming years with new directors and producers.

One of the biggest rumours to hit the Star Wars fandom is that Kevin Feige will be helming a brand new movie in the universe.

As the president of Marvel Studios, Feige is best known for pulling the strings behind the now legendary Marvel Cinematic Universe.

While he has never headed up a Star Wars film before, it was thought it could be on the cards considering how well he pushed the Marvel universe.

However, during an interview for the upcoming Disney Plus show Wandavision, Feige was asked if he was involved in Star Wars.

The Marvel executive responded: “Not at all.”

This is surprising as the various rumours seemed to be pointing towards his involvement being true, but fans will simply have to wait and see what is going to come next for the Star Wars lineage.

Meanwhile, other rumours have been suggesting that some of the MCU actors would be joining the Star Wars series in the coming years.

One of the biggest actors supposedly launching into hyperspace is none other than Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr.

Downey Jr made an impact on the MCU over the past ten years, and finished out his character’s story in Avengers Endgame.

Now, it has been suggested he could be taking on the role of Grand Admiral Thrawn in an upcoming series or movie.

Thrawn is a devilish antagonist who originated in the TV series Star Wars: Rebels, and was most recently name-dropped by Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) in The Mandalorian.

Thrawn is no doubt going to be used as a massive villainous force in the upcoming expanding universe, and Downey Jr would be the perfect for the role.

The Star Wars franchise has a lot on the way in terms of new content, as revealed by Disney last month.

First and foremost, an Obi-Wan Kenobi TV series is due out this year, and will star former Obi-Wan actor Ewan McGregor.

It was also confirmed to see the return of former Anakin Skywalker star Hayden Christiansen.

The Star Wars franchise is available to watch on Disney Plus now.
