THEY say reputation is everything, and while some stars opt for a squeaky clean public image, others have more wild, party-loving personas.
The two may seem like chalk and cheese but sometimes they collide, surprising fans when they strike up a romance.
In terms of good girls who've dated "bad boys", Kim Kardashian is the latest celeb to fall for grungy, tattooed comedian Pete Davidson.
But it's not always women who go for blokes with more colourful reputations.
Here, we take a look at the male stars who've earned a fortune from their squeaky clean images, and the feisty women who have won their heart…
Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus
Miley, 29, rose to fame as the bright-eyed, bushy-tailed teen star of Disney's Hannah Montana and met Australian actor Liam Hemsworth, 31, on the set of The Last Song in 2009.
After an on-off romance the pair married in December 2018, but split just eight months later.
While Liam kept himself relatively low-key, Miley forged a distinctive wild child image (who can forget that twerking performance with Robin Thicke?).

From her naked video for hit song Wrecking ball to lighting a joint on stage at the 2013 MTV European Music Awards, Miley has raised more than a few eyebrows.
And at times her outrageous behaviour did appear to cause tension between the couple.
When Miley pretended to lick Liam on the red carpet, he reportedly asked her: "Could you behave for once?"
Speaking about their split, Miley told The Howard Stern Show: "There was too much conflict.
"When I come home, I want to be anchored by someone. I don’t get off on drama or fighting. I really do and did love him very, very, very much and still do, always will."
Liam is now dating model Gabrielle Brooks. A source told Entertainment Tonight that she shares his "traditional values" and they enjoy an "easy-going" relationship.
Christian and Geri Horner
Very few people expected the romance between F1's Red Bull racing team boss Christian Horner, 48, and former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell, 49.
Before rising to fame as Ginger Spice, Geri worked as a nightclub dancer and posed for a series of racy glamour shots, appearing as a Page 3 model in 1990.
One of her most memorable moments was when she pinched Prince Charles’ bum in 1997 at a Royal Gala.
In the same year her boob nearly popped out of her eye-poppingly tight ball gown on stage at the Brits.
Meanwhile privately-educated Christian was a professional racing driver before retiring aged 25, at which point he began working behind the scenes.
Since marrying Christian, Geri has been dubbed "lady of the manor" thanks to their two lavish country homes in Oxfordshire – which has its own farm – and Hertfordshire.
James Middleton and Donna Air
She dated the Duchess of Cambridge's younger brother James Middleton, now 34, but years before that Donna Air, now 42, was one of the original Nineties "ladettes".
Born in Newcastle, the actress first hit our screens aged 10, starring in children’s TV hit Byker Grove, before landing high profile presenting roles on shows such as The Big Breakfast and TFI Friday.
She frequently posed for sexy lads mag photo shoots in her lingerie, and was a regular on the party scene with the Primrose Hill set.
She was also always very well-connected, and was pals with Princess Eugenie and Beatrice.
She catapulted into even higher social circles when she met Kate’s bro at a private members’ club in 2013, and the pair dated for four years.
In 2020 Donna said their relationship ended because the "timing wasn't right". He's now married to Alizée Thevenet, while Donna is believed to be single.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie
Before getting together with his now ex-wife Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt was one half of Hollywood's golden couple, married to Friends star Jennifer Aniston.
And while he'd played the field before, being linked to the likes of Thandie Newton and Gwyneth Paltrow, he generally kept his private life pretty private.
Angelina's past, however, was a lot more colourful.
By age 20, the actress claimed she had done "just about every drug possible" including cocaine, ecstasy, LSD and heroin.
The star also caused uproar on the Oscars red carpet in 2000 by kissing her brother on the lips.
When she married first husband Jonny Lee Miller, she wore black rubber trousers and a white T-shirt on which she'd scrawled the groom's name in her blood.
While married to second husband Billy Bob Thornton, she got a dragon tattoo with his name and the couple wore vials of each other's blood around their necks.
Katie Price and Gareth Gates
In perhaps one of the most surprising love matches, baby-faced singer Gareth Gates lost his virginity to Katie Price – who was pregnant with her son Harvey – when he was just 17.
While he was relatively new to fame in 2002, known from Pop Idol for his angelic voice and white suits, Pricey – aka Jordan – was at the height of hers, known for her skimpy outfits and high-profile romances.
In 2016 Gareth, now 37, told new! Magazine: “It wasn’t too long after that I decided to take a break from the industry.
"It wasn’t the reason I wanted to be a pop star. There are stars out there for the wrong reason. I want to be recognised for my talent."
In her book Harvey and Me, Katie, 43, claimed she "launched Gareth Gates' career" by taking his virginity.
She wrote: "He denied losing his virginity to me at first, but once he finally admitted it, wasn't that when his career started? Anyway, swiftly moving on…"
Kate Moss and Nikolai von Bismarck
Settled down with photographer Count Nikolai von Bismarck, 35, recently sober supermodel Kate Moss is worlds away from her wild partying days.
In her heyday the 47-year-old was renowned for partying, rarely seen without a cigarette in hand, and dated the likes of Johnny Depp and drug addict rocker Pete Doherty.
In the 2014 book Champagne Supernovas, journalist Maureen Callahan wrote: "In one sitting, [Kate] could snort three grams of coke and drink a bottle of vodka, which doctors said was the best liquor for preserving her looks: she put the stuff away so hard and fast that her nickname was 'The Tank'."
But the clean-living model is now "committed" to Nikolai, even wearing a vintage emerald and diamond ring which he gifted her.
If some of these pairings are anything to go by, it seems opposites can attract – but it may not always work out in the long run.
