Sex Education season three is on Netflix now and it was an emotional rollercoaster for fans of Jean Milburn (played by Gillian Anderson). She continued a turbulent relationship with partner Jakob Nyman (Mikael Persbrandt) but they decided to keep the baby. However, a paternity test indicated Jakob may not be the father after all.

Who is the father of Jean Milburn’s baby?

The latest outing of Sex Education followed a heavily pregnant Jean as she tried to navigate her relationship with Jakob.

He had moved in with Jean and Otis (Asa Butterfield), but the change in dynamic was not working for anyone.

Their relationship was also tested when Otis’ father came to visit, and he and Jean shared an intimate moment.

Jakob lost all faith in Jean and decided to call off the relationship, with the pair deciding to co-parent the unborn child.

He also demanded a paternity test as he did not believe the baby was his.

The couple went through relationship counselling together and they remained on good terms.

Jakob seemed to light up when Jean gave birth to a baby girl, although she was eight weeks premature.

Fans were worried Jean was in trouble when she suffered a haemorrhage after giving birth, but thankfully she pulled through.

When Jakob saw the whole family together, it seemed things were finally looking up.

However, while Jean was resting in hospital, she received the results of the paternity test and looked shocked.

She cursed out loud when she read the results, which indicates it was not the outcome she wanted.

Does this mean Jakob is not the father and the baby is actually Remi’s (James Purefoy)?

As Remi and Jean only had a brief encounter, the probability of the baby being his is low.

There had been a much bigger window of opportunity for Jakob and Jean to conceive a child.

Jean’s reaction to the letter could, after all, have been in response to a completely different piece of information.

Fans will have to wait until a potential fourth season airs to find out the answer.

The series has not officially been renewed yet, but it is highly likely given the season three cliffhangers.

However, Netflix will need to review the viewership ratings before making a final decision.

Following a heart to heart with her father, Ola (Patricia Allison) suggested they should name the baby girl ‘Joy’.

Whether she will bring Joy to the family is yet to be seen.

Questions had been raised over whether she would keep the baby or put her up for adoption.

Many fans had wondered whether Jean’s age would impact the baby’s life and thought there would be some complications.

If season four is given the green light, viewers will be able to see how Jean and Jakob’s relationship is affected.

If Remi returns as a recurring character in season four, this could indicate bad news for everyone.

Sex Education season 3 is on Netflix now.
