Power Book 5 spoilers: Will Tommy Egan become the new Ghost? 50 Cent drops hint

Starz series Power continues to live on with a whole host of spin-off shows which promise to bring plenty of fresh action and drama. News of the four spin-off series came as the parent show came to a startling conclusion. Among the new dramas is Power Book V: Force, which follows the escapades of Tommy Egan (played by Joseph Sikora) after he left New York for good.

Book V will see Tommy trying to make it on the East Coast and set up a new enterprise.

In Power season six, Tommy revealed he had friends in California and decided to skip the Big Apple for new prospects.

Tommy even tried to persuade his mother Kate Egan (Patricia Kalember) to come with him to Los Angeles but she scorned his invitation, choosing to live off the money she’d been left in James “Ghost” St Patrick’s (Omari Hardwick) will.

The last fans saw of Tommy, he was riding off into the sunset and to California.

Will Tommy become the new Ghost in Power Book 5?

Throughout the course of Power, Tommy has been something of a shamble when it comes to running the drug business.

Ghost was the real brains of the operations and now Tommy is loose and free, he could potentially go off the rails.

Also, as a newcomer to the illegal drugs trade in LA, he will be something of an outsider and essentially on the backfoot.

Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, who serves as an executive producer for the Power franchise and played the late Kanan Stark, hinted Tommy would be in a tricky place when he arrived in California.

Posting on Instagram to his 25.4 million followers, the rapper shared a black-and-white shot of Tommy in a crowd of people.

He captioned the image: “Verified Tommy, is out here on the loose what do you think he is gonna do when he gets to LA and finds out weed is legal and the mexican’s got all the blow. POWER BOOK V #lecheminduroi #bransoncognac_us #powerneverends.”

This is not only the first shot from Power Book V but gives a strong hint of what to expect.

The picture confirmed Tommy was a small fish in a big pond, surrounded by strangers and possibly enemies on all sides.

In the shot, only Tommy’s eyes could be seen which also suggested he could be somewhat lost as he tries to figure what to do.

The caption gives a lot of food for thought as Tommy clearly didn’t think things through when he absconded from the city.

Force could chart the rise of Tommy as he learns about the East Coast drugs trade and becomes an adept businessman.

He may even try to follow in the footsteps of his late friend Ghost by going straight with a legitimate enterprise.

Book V looks like it will take Tommy on a steep learning curve and he will have some hard lessons to learn before rising to the top.

Perhaps Tommy will also get a mentor, much like Ghost had Breeze, who will guide him and support him before a betrayal.

As Force will be set in LA, there will be a completely different flavour to the show which is likely to incorporate the Mexican cartels.

The demographics and make-up of LA is different to New York but there are also likely to be similarities as it’s all part of the Power universe.

Additionally, there could be other characters from within the Power world turning up in LA to either help or hinder Tommy given Force is going to be running in the same timeline as Power Book II: Ghost and Power Book IV: Influence.
