Piers Morgan revealed his parents are suffering from coronavirus, discussing their health on Monday morning's Good Morning Britain.
Joining his co-stars Susanna Reid and Dr Hilary Jones on the show, the 55-year-old said his mum and dad, who are both in their 70s, tested positive for Covid-19 two weeks ago.
The revelation came after Piers interviewed Kate Garraway, whose husband Derek Draper remains in hospital after Covid wreaked havoc on his internal organs earlier this year.
Opening up, Piers revealed it was a "scary" time for his family, as his parents – Gabrielle and Glynne – battle the virus together.
He said: "I would just like to say something to my parents who are both battling Covid at the moment, and have been for two weeks.
"Kate said something there which just resonated with me, it's a scary thing for a family, when your elderly parents – my parents are both in their mid to late 70s – got it two weeks ago, from someone in a bubble. A family bubble."
Piers continued: "Then bang, it was like dominos. They had one lunch together, and within three days both my mum and dad had Covid-19 and it's been a long two weeks for our family."
Sharing her well wishes with Piers' parents, Susanna said: "It's frightening, isn't it."
Piers then discussed the rising Covid rates in the UK with ITV's resident doctor Hilary, describing the "psychological trauma" family members can go through after a loved one's diagnosis.
The outspoken GMB star is particularly close with his parents, and regularly shares photos of mum Gabrielle and stepdad Glynne on social media.
When Piers was just a baby, his Irish dentist father Vincent Eamonn O'Meara tragically died, and his mum went on to remarry, tying the knot with Welshman Glynne Pughe-Morgan.
Taking Morgan's name as his own, Piers went on to call Glynne, "dad", as he raised him in their family home in Sussex.
In May, Piers wished his father a happy birthday, praising his youthful good looks as he said: "Happy Birthday to my Dad, who looks younger than me every year."
During the first lockdown, Piers also paid tribute to his mum on her birthday, as he was left unable to visit her due to social distancing guidelines.
On social media, he penned: "Today, we can't even see each other let alone be this tactile. But that is the sacrifice we must all make to beat this bloody virus. Thanks for everything Mum, and see you later on FaceTime. X"
