Nicki Minaj's father, Robert, 64, killed in hit-and-run accident

NICKI Minaj's father, Robert Maraj, was killed in a hit-and-run accident.

The famous rapper's father was 64-years-old.

TMZ confirmed the sad news on Sunday.

According to the outlet, Nassau County Police in New York said Robert was walking on the road between Roslyn Road and Raff Avenue on Friday evening around 6 PM ET when the incident occurred.

The cops said he was hit by a vehicle heading northbound and the driver quickly fled the scene of the crime.

There were witnesses at the time of the accident, though it happened so quickly that no one was able to identity the person behind the car.

Robert was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, though his injuries were too substantial and he passed over the weekend.

The case is currently under investigation by the Homicide Squad.

Police are asking the public to help identify the driver responsible for the incident, as the witnesses were unable to give a decent description of the suspect vehicle.

Nicki has not yet publicly spoken about her father's passing, though a rep for the 38-year-old rapper confirmed Robert's passing to TMZ.

Not much is known about Nicki's relationship with her father, though she did briefly discuss how the abusive nature she witnessed from him during her childhood impacted her as an adult.

In a 2018 clip from the Making a Queen documentary, Nicki recalled: "I remember when my mother would let my father be violent with her and she always brings up this story about when I was a little girl and I would stand in front of my mother [with my arms open].

"That’s why maybe some people would describe me as abrasive or b***hy or whatever because I vowed from that age no man would ever abuse me, call me out my name, treat me like that," she added as she began to tear up. "Then all of a sudden, that was my life."

In another clip shared by the rapper on Instagram, she broke down in tears as she spoke about how her relationship with her father and another abuser left her with little confidence.

Nicki said: "Who was I going to inspire when I had nothing in me to give? I let one human being make me so low that I didn’t even remember who I was. I was scared to get in the studio. I didn’t believe in myself."

The status of their relationship at the time of Robert's death in unclear, though Nicki happily posed with her father at a number of events over the years.
