Lucifer season five, part one, will premiere on Friday, August 21 on Netflix worldwide. After many years of waiting, fans will finally meet Lucifer’s brother Michael, who is also played by Tom Ellis. How does Tom Ellis really feel about playing both brothers? Expresss.co.uk has everything you need to know.
How does Tom Ellis really feel about playing Michael?
At the end of Lucifer season four, Lucifer Morningstar returned to rule over hell, leaving behind his first love, Chloe Decker (played by Lauren German) on Earth.
When season five, part one begins Maze (Lelsey-Ann Brandt), Amenadiel (DB Woodside) and Ella (Aimee Garica) will be missing Lucifer with Chloe trying to get over the devil.
Thankfully, the cast of Lucifer has confirmed in several interviews Lucifer will return to Earth.
However, Lucifer will not return to Earth in the way fans expected.

First, fans will be introduced to Lucifer Morningstar’s evil twin brother Michael, who arrives on Earth pretending to be the devil.
Thankfully, Woodside revealed to Entertainment Tonight his character, Amenadiel is one of the first to realise Lucifer is not who he says he is.
As seen in the trailer for season five, Michael confirms his true identity to Maze when she confronts Lucifer for leaving her behind on Earth.
However, whether Chloe will find out Michael’s true identity before its too late remains unknown for now.
Instead of looking for another actor to play the role of Lucifer’s brother, the creators decided to make Michael his twin and get Ellis to play both roles.
Speaking to Backstage Magazine, earlier this month, Ellis discussed what it was like to play both roles.
He said: “It was a new challenge to me, that’s for sure.
“What I realized is that I’ve played Lucifer for five years; it’s very easy for me to step in and out of Lucifer’s skin.
“Playing a new character—it messed with my head a little bit.

Lucifer season 5: How is Michael different from Lucifer? [EXPLAINER]
“For a long time, I felt like a fraud to my friends and colleagues.
“But it was nice to think about a different character for a while.
“I had a certain set of rules that I had to work in.
“We’re always set up against time when we’re shooting.
“There’s so much to pack in, and we don’t have a lot of time.
“So in terms of Lucifer and Michael being different, I had to go old-school in that and figure out physicality and voice and how a character walks, as opposed to any sort of transformative prosthetics.”
To differentiate between Michael and Lucifer, there are several signs that they can look out for.
Ellis, who is Welsh, not only had to act with an over-the-top English accent for play Lucifer, for Michael he had to put on an American accent.
Michael’s posture is also entirely different from Lucifer’s own, with the evil twin standing significantly hunched over in comparison to Lucifer.
Fans will also notice the difference in the way Lucifer and Michael dress.
Lucifer is usually overdressed for every occasion, wearing a suit every single day.
On the other hand, Michael dresses in turtle necks and jumpers.
One Reddit fan commented: “Do we honestly think that the Devil that wears Prada would wear a turtleneck? We haven’t seen anything like it in four seasons.”
