The details of what lies ahead for Lucifer Morningstar and friends in the second eight episodes of season five remains a mystery. Fans of the Fox and Netflix drama were recently given a small teaser from Amenadiel star D.B. Woodside on Twitter confirming a brand new addition to the cast.

Prince of Darkness Lucifer Morningstar (played by Tom Ellis) faced his biggest challenge yet in the first half of Netflix’s brand new season of Lucifer.

Taking an impromptu break from his duties in the underworld, Lucifer abandoned his hellish throne to once again watch over Chloe Decker (Lauren German) from encroaching celestial threats.

Unfortunately, he didn’t bank on his own twin brother sabotaging his life amongst the mortals by stealing his identity and turning his friends and family against him.

Chaos ensued in the midseason finale, and fans are strapping in for a potentially long wait to see Michael defeated, and Lucifer finally reunited with his long lost father, God (Dennis Haysbert).

As the fifth season races towards a cataclysmic conclusion, a recent update from Amenadiel star D.B. Woodside assured fans there’ll still be room for laughs in part two.

In the latest season, Amenadiel took on the challenges of fatherhood with his new baby with Linda Martin (Rachael Harris), which proved almost as tough as facing off against Lucifer’s devious twin.

Over on his personal Twitter page, Woodside confirmed a new cast member would be joining the series in a guest spot at some point in season five or six.

He said: “Last week, Tom, Lauren, myself, and a guest actor that I’m not at liberty to identify yet, took part in a scene that will go down as one of the funniest Lucifer scenes ever. Just wait.”

Woodside promised the guest appearance would be one of the funniest in the show’s history, so speculation has begun as to which comedic star could be joining the cast.

As the majority of season five had been completed before the pandemic, and filming on the sixth season is now underway, the guest actor may not be making an appearance until the next instalment of Lucifer.

However, Woodside also used the hashtag #Season5b, so there’s a strong chance the appearance could have been added to the next episodes in reshoots.

Following the star’s announcement, fans took to Woodside’s tweet to voice their excitement.

One fan commented: “In short we’ll cry our heart out and die of laughter watching 5B.”

Referencing the dizzying highs and lows of the latest season, they also added: “Love the emotional rollercoaster Lucifer is.”

Another fan agreed and replied: “I’m looking forward to the funny moments along with the painful. Thanks DB.”

Additionally, other followers admitted frustration for the long wait in between new episodes.

Despite wrapping production of the previously incomplete finale of Lucifer season five, Netflix and Warner Bros. TV have still yet to confirm a release date for episodes 9-16.

One viewer exclaimed: “Y’all gonna be the death of me w/ the waiting on season 5 part B!!!!!”

Filming on episode 16 was previously shut down due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, but it’s hoped production on the sixth and final season can move ahead without a hitch.
