Lucifer fans outraged by show’s latest season 5B release update: ‘Just tell us’

Lucifer: Netflix looks back at Chloe Decker’s best moments

A recent update from Lucifer’s official Twitter page has caused a stir amongst fans who are still impatiently waiting for the release of season five, part two. Hoped to hit Netflix at the start of next year, viewers are now concerned it could be months before the next episodes finally surface.

There has still been no announcement for the conclusion of Lucifer’s fifth season, despite a number of updates from the show’s official Twitter page.

The Netflix drama’s social media presence has been raising expectations amongst the fanbase by posting a series of clues and spoilers over the last few weeks.

Unfortunately, it’s still unclear whether the midseason premiere is just around the corner or if subscribers will be subjected to yet another lengthy wait in the new year.

Lucifer’s Twitter account first apologised for the radio silence, then teased fans with yet another sneak peek at what’s to come in episodes 9-16.

They posted: “Y’all keep asking when 5B’s coming out and we still can’t say, sry.

“But what we do know is that ****** is about to learn a thing or two about denial.”

Following the thrilling cliffhanger in August’s midseason finale, Lucifer Morningstar (played by Tom Ellis) is set to finally reunite with his estranged dad, God (Dennis Haysbert) when the show resumes.

Regarding the new post’s starred-out character, the six letters in Daniel ‘Dan’ Espinoza (Kevin Alejandro) seem to fit the bill.

Viewers are now speculating Dan could have a crisis of faith when he meets his maker and discovers the full truth about his relationship with Goddess/Charlotte Richards (Tricia Helfer).

One fan replied: “Daniel is denying that it’s actually God (who’s ex-wife he slept with). I need this whole scene!”

However, several ‘Lucifans’ were preoccupied by the fact they still don’t know how long they should expect to wait for more episodes.

As filming for season six is currently underway in Hollywood, it’s suspected two blocks of new episodes will be released in 2021.

Then again, Lucifer’s production schedule has been hit hard by the effects of the coronavirus pandemic over the last year, so fans may need to face the possibility of even more delays.

Another fed up fan commented: “What we do know is that we still do not have a release date for 5B as sad as it is.”

While it’s hoped the series will be back for an early 2021 release, some pragmatic viewers have taken a more analytical approach to Lucifer’s slate so far.

For series with seasons split into two halves, Netflix tends to leave a gap of six months or more to let fans mull over the latest developments.

Following the first half of season five’s late summer release, an early spring premiere could be the most likely scenario for season five, part two.

A recent influx of updates from the cast and crew from the set of season six have also raised hopes, so fans will have to keep their eyes peeled for the official word from Netflix.
