Love Island’s Michael Griffiths SQUIRMS as he finally reunites with Joanna Chimonides following shock dumping – and admits he wants her back

Love Island star Michael Griffiths has finally reunited with Joanna Chimonides after a dramatic few days.

The 27 year old firefighter has had a hectic week after Joanna was dumped from the villa – leaving him to continue on the show as a single man.

Despite telling Joanna he had zero feelings for his former couple partner Amber Gill, he made a beeline towards her swiftly after Joanna's exit – and tried to win her back.

Amber, however, was having none of it – and chose to recouple with Irish rugby hunk Greg O’Shea, leaving Michael disappointed.

Upon leaving the villa, he finally came face-to-face with Joanna for the first time on Sunday night's Aftersun – and squirmed as the pair were questioned about their romance.

Explaining why he didn’t leave the villa, he told host Caroline Flack: “I’ve always said I’ve never quit anything in my life and I wasn’t about to start then.

“It is about finding love, but I’d spoken to people previously, regardless of the situation there was two weeks left. I felt it was a test.

“I wasn’t gong to quit the whole process, and I was going to enjoy my time with my friends.”

Speaking about the moment he tried to recouple with Amber, he added: “Those feelings never actually go away. At that point me and Amber had just made up and I’d apologised and at that point I don’t know if that’s a feeling of friendship or something more.

“People at certain points in life will be attracted to two different people. It’s just that mine is on TV. You can have feelings for more than one person."

Joanna replied: “The thing is I asked you several times…”

Michael later admitted he’ll now be trying to win Joanna back. Speaking to The Sun, he said: "Ultimately I am hoping Joanna will take me back, I am hoping that's the case.

"It's just whether Joanna will speak to me or not. I am excited to speak to her but I don't know how, or if, she is going to speak to me."

He added that he’d “totally respect” her decision if she chose not to give things a try, adding: “I can understand why she would do that.

"I would be upset but it's one of those things, everyone makes mistakes.

"I hope that I could work towards [getting back with Joanna] but if she doesn't want to revisit it then she doesn't want to revisit it."
