Love Island couple split just weeks after final as it wasnt going anywhere

Love Island fans have been left stunned at the news that Samie Elishi and Tom Clare have split up just a few weeks after the end of the most recent winter series.

The couple came third in the show but some observers had begun to pick up signals that all wasn’t right when their online references to each other began to dry up.

A source confirmed to The Sun: “Samie and Tom have sadly decided to call it a day. There is a lot of love and respect there but it just wasn’t going anywhere.

“The distance between them was too much and they are both really focused on their careers post Love Island.”

Tom lives in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, while Samie lives much further south, in Essex.

The news comes despite Tom, 23, addressing the issue of distance head-on recently.

“I've been down there for a few days or she's come up here,” he told The Sun.

“It hasn't been like a one-day thing – we're making it work.

“I think eventually we want to move in together but that takes time, it's not something that you rush.

“I think if we could we'd want to move in together tomorrow, but we're just making it natural.

“I'd live wherever Samie wants to live – I'm not bothered, me.”

The couple officially announced their relationship a couple of weeks after the ITV winter series – filmed in South Africa – wrapped up, with Samie, 22, announcing to her followers: “This is my BOYFRIEND everyone.”

But it seems the distance between them was a bigger problem than they’d thought, and the relationship appears to be over.

They had finished third in the series behind winnersKai Faganand Sanam Harrinanan and runners-upRon HallandLana Jenkins.
