Lorraine viewers cringe as Emmerdale star interrupts show in cheesy segment

Lorraine viewers have taken to social media to complain about a recent edition of the ITV morning programme.

Presenter Lorraine Kelly was back on our screens on Monday (March 6) to host her self-titled talk show.

She chatted to Emmerdale stars Rebecca Sarker and Tony Audenshaw, who play Manpreet Sharma and Bob Hope in the soap, to discuss the show's recent schedule change.

However, before she introduced the soap stars to viewers at home, Lorraine gave viewers a sneak peek into what was coming up by pretending to answer her phone to Emmerdale villain Meena Jutla from prison.

Lorraine's performance failed to impress viewers with some taking to Twitter to moan about the "cheesy" segment.

Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: " Oh Lorraine ….please stop with the cringey Emmerdale “jokes” #Lorraine "

Another added: "OMG @lorraine is soooooooooo cheesy with all the #emmerdale advertising."

A third person posted: "Wow…..feel the cringe #Lorraine."

While a fourth social media user said: "Hope #Lorraine comes back on with her tail between her legs after that performance"

For years Emmerdale has aired on ITV weeknights at 7pm and Coronation Street has aired Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

On Mondays and Wednesdays, ITV would air two Coronation Street episodes at 7.30pm and 8.30pm and on Fridays, the soap would usually be on at 7.30pm for an hour.

However, the schedule has changed from March 7.

The evening news programme will be extended to an hour, airing from 6:30pm to 7:30pm, with ITV confirming more focus on reporting outside of London.

Emmerdale will move to the 7.30pm slot every weeknight and Coronation Street will move to hour-long episodes on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm.

Rival soap EastEnders will air on BBC One from Monday to Thursday nights at 7.30pm.

Over in Emmerdale, Meena Jutla is continuing to pull strings from behind bars.

She recently told vicar Charles Anderson that she will continue with her confession under one condition – that sister Manpreet Sharma pays her a visit.

When Manpreet finally arrives, Meena asserts that they both have to take responsibility for their actions; meaning that Manpreet will have to reveal that she lied to the police in her testimony to protect Liam Cavanagh, who claimed to push Meena over the bridge in self-defence in scenes aired last month.

A frustrated Manpreet loses it and slaps Meena but she's massively relieved when her seems to agree to confess her crimes.

However, as Emmerdale fans should know by now that Meena isn't willing to go down without a fight and so she completely turns the tables on Manpreet, lying to the police and informing them that Manpreet was the one who killed Andrea Tate.

Lorraine airs weekdays on ITV at 9am
