Labour Shadow Chancellor Anneliese Dodds sparked a furious online backlash after her appearance on Good Morning Britain. The MP was responding to a list of measures announced by Chancellor Rishi Sunak in the Commons on Wednesday to get businesses and workers back on track after the coronavirus lockdown. Ms Dodds criticised the minister’s plans for not being “targeted” enough but was grilled over what she would do in his position.

Brian on Twitter wrote: “I see Anneliese Dodds is on GMB saying absolutely nothing again and still managing to look like the thickest politician in Labour.”

James added: “Anneliese Dodds is great at using buzz words like ‘strategy’ and ‘grow the economy’ but didn’t give a specific example of how she’d achieve her aims. No examples of where public spending would be focused or who would be affected by any required tax increases. All talk no action.”

One user tweeted: “I’ve just looked at the wiki page for Anneliese Dodds and she has never held a job in the Finance sector and the only job she had before becoming an MP was a university lecturer. Do we really think the role of Shadow Chancellor is appropriate for someone like this?”

Another said: “Miss Dodds is utterly clueless.”
