Helen Skelton and Jules Hudson are hosting a week of wintery live shows from South Yorkshire for Winter on the Farm. Her Channel 5 co-stars have rallied around to show Helen their support as she edges closer to getting her hands on the Glitterball Trophy. However, they have spoken out on the “pressures” for Helen which come with being on Strictly Come Dancing.
Helen, 39, has admittedly struggled with her confidence throughout her time on Strictly.
She signed up for the show not long after she announced she was splitting from her husband Richie Myler.
Earlier this year, she confirmed on Instagram the rugby player had left the family home.
Richie, 32, later announced he was in a relationship with Stephanie Thirkill, 32, who is now carrying his unborn child.
Ahead of Winter at the Farm airing, Helen’s colleague Jules said: “The ‘Farmy Army’ are absolutely behind Helen.
“We are all so proud of what she’s doing and not unaware of the pressures that come with it but my goodness me she is putting everything into it and it’s amazing to watch.”
Helen dazzled the Strictly judges on Friday after her performance with Gorka Márquez to Mein Herr from the hit musical, Cabaret.
They scored 39 points out of a possible 40 thanks to Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas and Anton du Beke scoring them 10s.
Many fans took to social media as they believed Helen’s confidence had grown and thought her routine “sent a clear message to her ex-husband”.
Speaking about her Strictly journey, Helen told Channel 5: “It’s really fun, I’m absolutely loving it.
“I’m massively out of my comfort zone, it’s alien to me but I really love it and I’m really trying.
“Ultimately, all I want to do is learn and have a good time and try and get better.
“I’m so grateful for the support, Rob and Dave send me videos, and Jules sends me videos.
“Peter Wright from the Yorkshire Vet sent me a video, it feels like a family on the farm, we all look out for each other.”
Helen is one of the final five contestants on this year’s series of Strictly after Kym Marsh and her partner Graziano Di Prima got eliminated on Saturday.
The semi-final show will be held on Sunday, December 11 at 7.15pm on BBC One and the results show will air on Monday at 8pm.
For tonight’s instalment of Winter on the Farm, Rob and Dave Nicholson and their army of experts are on hand to help.
Doctor Amir Khan and Yorkshire vets Matt Jackson Smith and Shona Searson will be joining Jules and Helen.
A spokesperson for the show said: “Expect plenty of pre-festive fun on the farm, with insights into how the farm’s animals are adjusting to the colder months.”
Winter on the Farm airs on Monday at 8pm on Channel 5.
