Gogglebox viewers were left in hysterics as Giles showed Mary his 'sexual organ-shaped' croissant and claimed he was "traumatised" during tonight's episode (September 17).

The beloved Wiltshire couple returned in Friday night's premiere of the latest series of the Channel 4 show, with Giles informing Mary that he had "something very weird to show [her]".

Giles then produced the offending pastry, to which Mary replied: "What's wrong with it?"

In response, Giles said: "It's a croissant but it's a funny shape and I think if I complain and say I was traumatised by it, that I didn't feel in a safe space, I might get them to give me two croissants for one."

Offering to explain why he was offended by the croissant, Mary quipped: "I can see why. It's meant to look like a sexual organ."

Giles replied: "Yeah. I couldn't bring myself to eat that, Mary.

"Would you bite the offending proboscis off?"

An unimpressed Mary retorted: "I'm sure someone else will eat it. Giles, grow up."

Quick to laugh at the pair's conversation were Gogglebox fans, who took to Twitter to share their amusement at the hilarious scenes.
