Tom Fletcher and pro partner Amy Dowden were eliminated from the Strictly running after their Couples’ Choice dance in Musicals Week. Chatting to Simon Rimmer and Tim Lovejoy on the latest edition of Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch, his wife Giovanna revealed the musician has kept up his new hobby despite his exit from the BBC dance show.
Giovanna confirmed she and Tom have still been keeping up with the current series after his departure in Week Nine.
She told the Sunday Brunch hosts: “He’s been very sad this week.”
However, Tom hasn’t let his Strictly setback stop him from practising his new skills with his partner and friend Amy.
“But what I love is, the main point of the show is to get people dancing,” Giovanna continued.
“And him and Amy have actually been dancing this week, even though they’re not doing the show.”
While most fans may have expected Tom to take a well-earned rest, the Strictly pair have taken the opportunity to tackle some of the dances they missed out on.
Giovanna even argued there were some added health benefits to keeping on his feet.
She explained: “Because of all those chemicals and stuff, all the endorphins and stuff you get from dancing, to suddenly stop is not really great for your body or your mind.”
However, Sunday Brunch host Simon Rimmer, who competed in Strictly in 2017, though otherwise.
“It felt great for me,” he said, which raised a laugh from Giovanna and co-host Tim.
Tom has been keeping a little more active with Amy since their elimination in Musicals Week, though.
His wife continued: “Well they’ve just loved it so much.”

“They’ve gone back over all their dances, they’ve been learning the Quickstep they would have done last night.”
Tom and Amy’s final dance was a Couples’ Choice to On My Own from Les Miserables last week.
They were somewhat disappointed with their score of 31, which tied the lowest with Dan Walker and Nadiya Bychkova’s Charleston.
After a tense dance off with Rhys Stephenson and Nancy Xu they were sent home, despite judge Shirley Ballas revealing she would have voted for them to stay.
Giovanna said it was ‘a shame’ to see Tom knocked out in Week Nine, but was happy to see him still practising his moves.
The presenter and writer was also presented with Tom’s recent selfie showing off his post-Strictly physique.
Sunday Brunch host Tim said: “He’s absolutely ripped!” And Giovanna cheered: “Look at my husband!
“Isn’t that something to look at?” she added as the presenters gawked.
Sunday Brunch airs Sundays from 9:30pm on Channel 4.
