Bradley Walsh welcomed four new contestants onto The Chase on Tuesday afternoon. Aldo, Sharon, Tina and Chris were the players hoping to win a cash prize by taking on the Chaser Shaun ‘The Dark Destroyer’ Wallace. Before the game began, Shaun decided to make a joke about the names of the hopeful contestants. However, Bradley quickly poked holes in the Chaser’s attempts at comedy.

Bradley was ready to begin the quiz, but Shaun halted the host in his tracks to point out a comical observation he’d made.

Shaun remarked: “Before we go actually, did you notice something?

“The four names are footballers. Christina Sharonaldo. Do you get it?

“Chris, Tina, Sharon, Aldo,” he joked.

The Chaser was attempting to suggest the names of the contestants resembled that of famous Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo.

However, Bradley was quick to call out his co-star for his bad joke.

“Really?” The Chase host remarked, with Shaun replying: “Yeah really.”

“Christina-sha-ronaldo… Cristiano Ronaldo? Where does the ‘sh’ come from?” Bradley questioned, finding flaws in Shaun’s attempt at comedy.

“Oh forget it, Bradley! Forget it!” Shaun jokingly snapped at his co-star.

He continued: “I mean, I try my best. Do you know what I mean?

“I try to entertain people, try and make them laugh and you just don’t get it,” Shaun ranted.

“What is going on?” Bradley exclaimed, before moving on with the quiz.

After watching the encounter between the two, viewers quickly took to Twitter to share their thoughts on Shaun’s joke.

Some fans sided with Bradley and weren’t keen on the Chaser’s comical remarks.

“Cringeworthy Shaun, just get on and lose already #TheChase,” @linda_dwan wrote.

However, many made it clear they enjoyed seeing Shaun’s playful side come out.

“At least you get to have a laugh when Shaun’s on #TheChase,” @dwangeddy said.

@DrSlicer added: “Shaun being a sit down comic #thechase.”

“Shaun trying to be witty… he’s doing it alright, love it #TheChase,” @Jonsta1990 commented.

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
