Emmerdales Paddy admits feeling uncomfortable filming scenes with co-star

Emmerdale Actor Dominic Brunt has candidly admitted filming certain scenes with co-star Lucy Pargeter was “uncomfortable.”

The 52-year-old, who has played Paddy Kirk for over 20 years, opened up about the future of his character following his heartbreak on the show.

Paddy has faced plenty of drama in recent weeks on the soap after his wife Chas (played by Lucy) was revealed to be having an affair with Al Chapman (Michael Wildman).

And it seems filming those heartbreaking scenes with Lucy had an effect on Dominic.

Speaking to Loose Women on Thursday (January 5) Dominic, who also directs Horror movies, addressed his future on the long-running ITV soap.

The Macclesfield native also recalled how filming scenes alongside Lucy left him feeling “uncomfortable.”

“It was uncomfortable because Lucy is my friend and screaming in her face is not very nice,” he said.

Dominic, who was originally supposed to appear in Emmerdale for eight episodes, also admitted that he never expected to be saying on the soap for so long.

"Anybody who comes there always says they didn’t expect it was going to be like this," he said.

Gushing over how everyone is always so welcoming Dominic said: “I arrived 26 years ago expecting that I would find out all the cliques and politics, but it never arrived."

Paddy’s recent heartbreak might lead fans to worry the loveable vet will be leaving the village for a fresh start, but that’s not the case.

“My loyalties lie with Emmerdale, they really do,” Dominic assured fans.

Aside from his role on the iconic soap, Dominic has also directed horror movies including 2022's Scream of the Wolf and Wolf Manor.

When asked why he isn’t focusing 100% on his horror film venture, he explained: “It takes about two to four years to get the funding together and sometimes films collapse and sometimes they get up and go forward.

“But it can be a very tricky situation, but I don’t want to ever do one of them by halves, so I only do them every few years.

“I’m happy with Emmerdale and I really love it.”
