Emmerdale's Matthew Wolfenden and Isabel Hodgins are reportedly set to return to the ITV soap after an alleged race row, which they have both categorically denied.
In October, Matthew, 41, who plays David Metcalfe, and Isabel, 28, who plays Victoria Sugden, were reportedly embroiled in a race row after it was alleged that a mixed-race actress was upset by a comment on set.
Matthew and Isabel were also faced with allegations that the female cast member's accent was mimicked. However they categorically denied all the allegations and claimed that there was a misunderstanding.
And now it has been claimed that ITV bosses have accepted the two soap star's explanation over the alleged comment and mimicking, where the duo reportedly said they were "misheard", while no formal action will be taken against them.
A source told The Sun: "ITV have conducted a rigorous enquiry into the allegations made, with witness statements taken. Bosses accepted Matthew and Isabel’s explanation and agreed they can return to work.
"However, it has been made very clear that racism and bullying will not be tolerated by ITV. They have also offered the subject of their alleged remarks guidance about how to deal with the pair’s return."
OK! contacted Emmerdale for comment, who reiterated their original statement: "While we would never comment on individual cases, Emmerdale has robust policies in place to deal with any allegations brought to our attention and take the appropriate steps."
Only recently on the ITV soap, Matthew and Isabel's characters – David and Victoria – have been abroad after the latter was almost drowned by village murderer Meena Jutla, played by Paige Sandhu, during the Super Soap Week in October.
It comes after Charley Webb confirmed on Instagram Monday 3 January that she has indeed left Emmerdale after 19 years on the soap.
It had previously been reported that Charley, 33, had decided to exit the soap for good following her husband Matthew’s alleged involvement in the race probe on set.
Last week, the Debbie Dingle star finally addressed the rumours that she had quit the long-running ITV series as she answered a question from a fan during a Q&A session on Instagram Stories.
Posting a photo of herself with husband and fellow Emmerdale star, Matthew, and their three children Buster, 10, Bowie, six, and Ace, two, Charley explained her decision behind leaving the ITV soap.

“This is always my most asked question but I’ve never answered it before because I’ve never wanted to make a big deal of it,” she captioned.
“I left to have Ace 2 years ago. I went back at the end of last year for 10 weeks to complete a storyline. So, I guess officially it’s been a year. I never felt the need to announce it which is why we didn’t.”
