Emmerdale teenager Amelia Spencer (played by Daisy Campbell) is set to go into labour alone during the middle of a horrendous storm on the ITV soap. The winds really pick up when the character is making her way to meet her boyfriend Noah Dingle (Jack Downham) and she seeks shelter in a barn as her contractions begin. Amelia actress Daisy shared how she prepared for the labour scenes on Wednesday’s special instalment of Lorraine.

As part of Emmerdale’s 50th-anniversary plot, Amelia finds herself going into labour in an empty barn without any signal on her phone to call an ambulance or contact a loved one.

Lorraine Kelly discussed the upcoming storyline with the 19-year-old actress on an Emmerdale-themed special of her talk show.

Daisy made her first Emmerdale appearance as Amelia when she was a young child and she admitted she did not understand how important her role was until she reached the age of 10.

“When you are young you don’t really think of it like that, it was just a bit of fun when I was younger,” Daisy added.

Lorraine was interested to know about her character’s pregnancy storyline which is set to feature heavily in the soap’s 50th-anniversary special.

“It’s huge, I am so lucky to have this storyline as I have always wanted it for my character,” the actress explained.

“So to actually have it is amazing, and to be part of the 50th, I am so lucky.”

Daisy then revealed she had to learn about women giving birth under difficult circumstances to prepare for the labour scenes.

She explained to ITV viewers: “I always do my research as it is so important to do it.

“As it was a teen pregnancy as well I wanted to really focus on the teens so I must have clicked on every single website to learn about teen pregnancies.

“It really does help and I think it really helped my performance during the storyline.

“But I must have watched so many videos, been on websites and everything.”

Emmerdale viewers recently discovered Amelia is in love with Noah but he is not the baby’s father.

Daisy explained: “It’s a bit confusing. Noah is my boyfriend by Samson Dingle (Sam Hall) is the actual dad so it’s like [they are] cousins.”

Samson and Amelia had a one-night stand and when he found out about her pregnancy, he encouraged the 15-year-old to have a termination.

Noah, on the other hand, has been supportive of Amelia throughout her pregnancy and the pair are now an item.

Daisy said she has learned so much growing up on the set of Emmerdale and revealed she sometimes “smashes out eight scenes a day”.

The actress was not able to disclose whether her character and her baby make it through the terrifying labour.

She teased viewers will have to “keep watching” to see the drama unfold on the ITV soap.

The hour-long anniversary special airs on Sunday, October 16 on ITV at 7.30pm.

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV.
