Habiba (played by Rukku Nahar) had been taking a back seat on EastEnders over the past few months but was brought back to the forefront when the BBC soap returned to screens last month. It emerged the character had been enjoying a secret romance with Jags Panesar (Amar Adatia), though she didn’t like his family’s approach to business. After standing up to matriarch Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal), the youngster finally revealed his relationship with his girlfriend, only to be locked up behind bars after his vindictive mother reported him to the authorities. This marks an exit for the loveable rogue but will his other half also make a departure after yet another failed romance?
Friday’s episode of the weeknight serial drama saw Habiba challenging the authorities over the wrongful arrest of her boyfriend.
With banners and t-shirts telling the police to ‘Free the Jaguar’, the youngster finally managed to see her boyfriend face-to-face.
Albeit the interaction was through the glass window of a police car, the lovesick character told her other half “not to worry” as she was “going to get him out” of his situation.
“Jags, you need to tell them the truth, otherwise how are we going to get married?” She continued as she pulled out an engagement ring.
The youngster then proposed to her other half, telling him: “Tell them the truth, put this on your finger and we will move away.”
Unfortunately, it seems Jags rejected his girlfriend’s proposal as he gave her no answer as the police car drove away.
Back on the Square, Habiba met with her sister Iqra Ahmed (Priya Davdra) – who is dating the only sister of the clan, Ash Panesar (Kaur Garcha).
“You don’t know anyone who needs an engagement ring, do you? Jags don’t want it” the heartbroken character asked her sibling.
Having overheard the news about the proposal, the Panesar sister said she was “sorry” as she knew the pair couldn’t be together because of her mother.
However, she became worried Habiba was on to something when the youngster told Iqra her boyfriend was in “real trouble.”
The heartbroken character said: “Whoever he’s involved with, whoever is making him confess, they must be serious criminals.”
“They’re not. I mean, I’m sure they’re not,” Ash told her girlfriend’s sister, which left the youngster even more sceptical.
“You know why he’s doing this, don’t you?” Jags’ girlfriend asked the Panesar sister, who became very defensive.

I will find out the truth
“You’re not doing anything about it, are you? You don’t care,” Habiba declared before adding: “Jags told me your lot couldn’t be trusted.
“I will find out the truth, trust me,” the youngster said as she issued a warning to her boyfriend’s sister.
As the heartbroken character continues in her mission to find out who set up her partner for attacking Martin Fowler (James Bye), Suki might strike again.
Having already taken a disliking to the Ahmed family, she could use her manipulative streak to force Habiba out of Walford.
Having gathered some incriminating evidence against the youngster, the matriarch could threaten to expose her past if she doesn’t leave the Square.
With no other option than to heed to Suki’s demands, Habiba could be the latest member of the Ahmed family to leave the soap.
This would mean Iqra would be the last standing member of the clan, but could she be in danger from her girlfriend’s vindictive mother?
As she would have none of her loved ones around her, will the Ahmed sister be forced out of town too, breaking Ash’s heart?
EastEnders continues Monday at 8:05pm on BBC One.
