EastEnders' Jessie Wallace has been slapped with a clear warning by BBC bosses after a drunken incident and has expressed her "deep regret".

The actress was involved in a drunken bust-up with a police officer outside of a nightclub in Bury St Edmonds, Suffolk.

Following her run-in with the law, she accepted a caution.

Jessie, 50, was reportedly with her partner at the time and was subsequently arrested by police officers on suspicion of assaulting a police officer as well as drunk and disorderly conduct.

Hours later, she was cautioned at 2am on June 19, with Suffolk Police confirming to Daily Star that she had been released without charge.

They said: "A 50 year-old woman was arrested early on Sunday morning in St Andrew's Street, Bury St Edmunds, on suspicion of assaulting a police officer/drunk and disorderly conduct and was released without charge after receiving a conditional caution."

When accepting a conditional caution, a suspect must sign a document confirming an admission to the offence as well as any further details of the incident.

Now, the BBC have issued a statement following Jessie's arrest, with a spokesperson saying: "Senior bosses have spoken to Jessie Wallace about the incident and issued a clear warning that this kind of behaviour is unacceptable and Jessie has expressed her deep regret."

Jessie had been attending a Madness concert ahead of the incident at Thetford Forest and was seen posing with fans and dancing with her boyfriend.

The actress previously opened up about her relationship with her boyfriend in May of this year on her Instagram page after pictures emerged of the pair together.

But after the photographs circulated, Jessie was keen to shed light on their relationship.

Confirming their romance, she told her followers: "FYI we have known each other for 34 years and been together for a year!"

Jessie previously dated greengrocer Paul Keepin, but they split in 2019 after two years.

Following their split, a source told The Sun: "Jessie and Paul recently ended things and have cut contact with each other.

"She is moving on and wants the New Year to be a fresh start when she will focus on work. After a quiet Christmas with her daughter and her closest friends, she is knuckling down for 2020."
