Eamonn Holmes quizzed by police as they pull him over in car theft investigation

EAMONN Holmes has been quizzed by police after being pulled over as part of a car theft investigation.

The GB News host told fans he was "delighted" to have been checked over by Surrey police after a string of "car thefts in the area".

Eamonn, 62, took to Twitter to detail to his fans how he had been asked to stop at the side of the road on his way into work on Wednesday.

The former This Morning presenter detailed: "Pulled over by police on the way to work and delighted to be so.

"A lot of car thefts in my area and they were just checking that the car I was in wasn’t one of them."

He concluded by heaping praise on the "two young officers in their twenties" as an "absolute credit" to the police force.

Eamonn announced that he would be moving to GB News in November, where he is set to host a new daytime show with Isabel Webster.

He and wife Ruth Langsford were axed from their spot on This Morning shortly before, and replaced by Dermott O'Leary and Alison Hammond.

Since then, he has been lashing out at ITV in a series of sly digs – including one where he 'declared war' on the broadcaster.

A fan tweeted the presenter, pointing out how other stations appeared to be quaking in their boots at Eamonn and co-host Isabel Webster’s viewing figures.

The person wrote: “Just seen BBC Breakfast being advertised for the first time ever on the BBC.

"Eamonn Holmes & Isabel Webster on @GBNEWS breakfast must be having one hell of an impact on their viewing figures.”

Eamonn replied:  “Not the first to say this… GMB advertising heavily as well. Whatever you do stay strong folks and stay with @GBNEWS.”

Eamonn and Isabel have just started the breakfast show on the news channel after previously waking up the nation on Sky News Sunrise together, before leaving in 2016.

He famously presented daytime show This Morning with his wife Ruth Langsford, hosting on Fridays and during holidays, for 15 years.

Fans were devastated when the couple were moved from their regular slot and replaced by Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond.

Sources have suggested Eamonn was furious — though ITV had initially said they would regularly replace weekday pairing Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby during their breaks.

In a recent interview with The Sun, Eamonn cautiously said he would rather not discuss his feelings about the departure.

He tellingly added: "“Put it this way, I’m looking forward to a move somewhere new where they’re pleased to have me. But I wish everyone well at ITV."
