Coronation Street newbie Rebecca Ryan joined the cobbles a few weeks ago as the mysterious Lydia, who soap bosses confirmed will no doubt cause mayhem of another kind when she struck up a friendship with Sarah-Lou Platt (Tina O'Brien).

The 30-year-old actress isn't the only one in her family tree to be on the soap, as in earlier episodes, one of her real-life sibling's had also joined the cobbles, which, like Rebecca's character, was up to no good in one of the show's thrilling storylines.

The actress is no newbie to the acting world as she had already featured in some of the country's top dramas and shows including Waterloo Road and Shameless.

Away from the cameras, Lydia's personal life also includes some very glam snaps with the star rocking some chic looks.

Here, Daily Star delves deeper into her life outside of the soap.

Famous soap star brother

After announcing Rebecca's debut on the cobbles as mysterious Lydia, it quickly became clear that her real-life brother had already appeared in the same soap – proving that Corrie runs in her family's veins.

In the soap, Rebecca's brother, Jack James Ryan, played the rude, bad boy, Jacob Hay, who many Corrie lovers will remember as a key person in the dramatic storyline involving Simon Barlow (Alex Bain) and the chaos that ensued with the drug ring.

After it had been announced that Lydia would be joining the iconic cobbles, in a sweet Instagram post, her brother James dedicated a post to her, welcoming her to the street.

He wrote: "Still can't believe this is happening, but I'm beyond proud to finally announce my ridiculously talented sister @rebeccaryan___ is joining the cast of @coronationstreet.

"When people asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I'd say 'an actor on TV like my big sister.'

"You've been my biggest inspiration, and I'll never be able to articulate just how proud I am to be your little bro.

"They say never work with family, but on this occasion, I'd like to strongly disagree.

"Love you Bex."

Past telly roles

Rebecca has certainly made a name for herself in Soapland and for being in iconic British TV dramas.

She appeared in many hit shows, including Emmerdale, Casualty and Shameless – proving that she's no newbie to the acting world.

Rebecca was the first actress to play Carly Hope in Emmerdale before Gemma Atkinson took over the role on the dales. She s also appeared as one of Bob Hope's many children in episodes in 2006.

In the BBC show Waterloo Road, Rebecca starred as the show's iconic character, Vicki MacDonald, whose most notorious storyline included working as a stripper in order to support her family.

After small parts in Casualty over the years, she eventually joined the main cast in 2017 as Gemma Dean, the sister of paramedic Iain Dean.

Glamorous snaps

On Instagram, Rebecca is not too shy to take some glamorous and saucy snaps, with pictures of her against beautiful scenic backgrounds and showing off her great fashion style.

In a recent post, she shared a picture of her in swimwear enjoying a holiday to Turkey – with the water being so crystal blue, the saucy snap looked postcard-ready.

In another, the fashionista teased her 50,000 followers to some great fashion as she revealed some vibrant and chic looks.

One of her outfits was a trendy yellow pantsuit with a matching blazer, with the star making it clear that she is not afraid to rock a bold look.
