Coronation Street’s Gary in ‘prison twist’ as Maria discovers murder secret

Coronation Street's Gary Windass (Mikey North) is running out of time and cards to play when it comes to keeping his murderous secret under wraps.

Fans have seen him try and keep the truth from everyone – especially his new wife Maria (Samia Longchambon).

And new Coronation Street spoilers reveal that Maria will find out in the run up to Christmas, meaning Gary is out on his own.

After Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien) calls the police about the body in the woods, a police officer speaks to her and questions her about Rick Neelan's watch and she tries to cover her tracks.

Maria soon finds out that Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove) found a watch and that Gary had been desperate to get his hands on it, leaving Maria's mind racing.

It's not long until Maria confronts Gary about the watch and demands to know if Rick is dead.

Gary plays dump, saying if Rick is dead it's nothing to do with him – but Maria isn't convinced.

The police then come to Gary at the salon flat and bring him in for questioning about Rick's disappearance, leaving Maria horrified.

They question Gary and tell him they found evidence that a body had been buried in the woods, and that it could have been Rick's.

Gary denies everything and tells the police he doesn't know anything about Rick's disappearance.

Sarah speaks to Daniel (Rob Mallard) about the rumour that Gary killed Rick.

Later, Craig (Colson Smith) reveals that the police had to let Gary go as there wasn't enough evidence to arrest him, and Sarah is furious.

She calls in to see Gary and has a go at him, accusing him of moving Rick's body to save his own back.

He then accuses Sarah of trying to cover her own tracks, and she's left heated.

Maria quietly enters but neither of them notice, as Sarah asserts that Gary is the one that killed Rick.

Soon, Maria confronts Gary about the rumours, demanding why Sarah is saying he killed Rick.

And when he fails to come up with a plausible excuse, Maria threatens to call the police and throws him out.

Gary spends the night in the furniture shop and later leaves a message for Maria.

Kelly Neelan (Millie Gibson) calls in at the flat and cries as she tells Maria she needs to speak to Gary, as he's the only person in contact with Rick.

Maria summons him to the flat and Kelly explains she got a Christmas card from Rick, and is desperate to talk to him.

But Gary tells her he hasn't had contact with Rick in ages and can't help.

Could he be set for a 2021 behind bars?
