Former ITV soap star Dawn Acton revealed why she walked away from the cobbles after starring as Tracy Barlow for 11 years.
During an appearance on Lorraine, Dawn opened up on her time on Coronation Street to Christine Lampard, who is presenting the show while Lorraine Kelly takes a break.
Viewers watched Dawn on the cobbles from 1988 to 1999 but after leaving the show, the actress turned her back on acting.
Speaking out on why she decided to quit the soap, Dawn remarked: “Last time I was in the programme I was 22.
“I just had my son… My son was a baby and the acting world was precarious,” she confessed before revealing she wanted to find a more stable career.
Despite admitting her acting days are well behind her, Dawn refused to rule anything out.
On returning to acting, she said: “I’d never say never, you never know and I have done the odd bit of [amateur dramatics] over the years.”
Discussing Dawn’s time on the ITV soap, Christine asked: “You were practically a baby when you joined, was it life changing?”
“Yes definitely,” Dawn answered. “Nothing quite prepares you for it, you don’t realise the impact it’s going to have in terms of being recognised.”
Dawn went on to describe her onscreen parents, Anne Kirkbride, who played Deirdre Barlow and William Roache, who plays Ken Barlow, as “wonderful”.

She continued: “They were wonderful, of all the people to be able to work with. They helped me with my acting, gave me hits and tips.”
“Out of all of the storylines, which one had the most impact in terms of viewers talking to you as you walked down the street?” Christine asked.
Dawn revealed Tracy’s near fatal drug overdose had the greatest impact before revealing her favourite storyline was a little different.
“My favourite one that’s just been re-aired on ITV3 was Tracy bribing Deirdre’s boyfriend,” Dawn admitted.
“What a horror she was!” quipped Christine.
Elsewhere in Coronation Street, Geoff Metcalfe (played Ian Bartholomew) lashes out at Yasmeen Nazir (Shelley King) as his behaviour takes a darker turn.
Recently, Geoff took control of Yasmeen’s finances after stealing some of jewellery and then taking charge of the insurance claim.
As his coercive behaviour increased, Geoff convinced Yasmeen that he accidentally gave the his own bank details instead of hers.
However in upcoming scenes he will tell receive a letter from the insurance company that the money will be with him in a few days before resassuing Yasmeen that he will transfer it to her as soon as he receives it.
Will he keep his word or will Geoff use the money as another way to keep a hold over Yasmeen?
