Sarah (played by Tina O’Brien) has been trying to have a baby with her husband Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) for a few months now, with the couple getting passionate as and when they could on Coronation Street to give themselves the best chance of conceiving. However, Lydia Chambers (Rebecca Ryan) has proved herself to be quite troublesome and she has caused a divide between the husband and wife, leading the mother of three to admit she didn’t want to try for a child anymore. The decision could be taken out of her hands in upcoming scenes on the ITV soap as she leans on Daniel (Rob Mallard) for support. But could their dalliance result in a pregnancy?
During the first episode of Wednesday night’s episode of the weeknight serial drama, Adam and Sarah were having yet another argument about Lydia.
The lawyer presumed it was his former lover who keyed his car and following his accusations, she was fired from her job as she turned up drunk to a meeting after drowning her sorrows.
Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) accidentally let slip to Sarah what her husband had done and being friends with Lydia, she stood by her instead of her spouse.
As Adam tried to explain himself in the most recent instalment, his wife couldn’t walk away from him quick enough and she wasn’t falling for any of his charms.
With her phone pinging, the lawyer thought it was her ovulation app and they should get to having sex before they miss their chance.
However, Sarah hit back as she told him: “No, it is not my ovulation app. It’s a reminder on my Zoom calendar I have a meeting in five minutes.
“And I’ve already told you, I’ve gone back on the pill,” she continued as Adam’s uncle Daniel came waltzing around the corner.
The mother of three continued as she said: “Even if I was ovulating today, or if I plan on ovulating ever again, you’ll be the last person to know.”
Daniel chimed in as he remarked: “Keep me in the loop though, yeah?” a reply which saw Sarah begin to walk away and to the Underworld Factory.
She did stop to speak with Daniel though and had a better attitude when he inquired about why Lydia had lost her job.
Keep me in the loop though
Although this was just a passing moment between the two characters, this could be a hint they will end up having a baby together in the future.
Daniel joking about wanting to know when Sarah was ovulating could have been his attempt at flirting with her and she could well take him up on it.
There has never been any inclination the pair could be an item before but Lydia could force them together as she tries to get her hands back on Adam.
With the newcomer currently dating Daniel, he will be left heartbroken if she were to get back on track with her former lover after many years apart.
Sarah would be in absolute bits she had been betrayed not just by her husband but also the woman she had come to see as a best friend.
With Sarah and Daniel both in the same boat, they could spend a lot more time together, not only as support but as their sons have play dates together.
As they begin to see each other in a different light, they could give in to the chemistry between them and embark on a passionate affair.
Though they might not be as careful as they thought they were being as a few weeks later, Sarah could discover she is expecting a baby.
Not wanting Adam to realise she has slept with his uncle, she could say she is pregnant with his baby to keep her fling with Daniel under wraps.
However, she could tell her secret lover the baby is his but how will he react when he discovers he is going to be a father again?
In the past, Daniel had a relationship with Sarah’s daughter, Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon), which resulted in him popping the question to her.
Unfortunately, it didn’t work out as Sarah wasn’t too happy with the pairing and his grief over the loss of his wife Sinead Tinker (Katie McGlynn) was too overbearing.
Therefore, the mother of three has always seen him more as a son figure than as someone she would end up in bed with or being the father of her child for that matter.
Secrets don’t stay harboured for long on the cobbles, however, so it would only be a matter of time before the baby’s paternity was revealed.
How will the residents of Weatherfield, and more importantly Adam, react to the fact Daniel is having another child with Sarah?
It has always been thought Sarah would betray Adam with someone like Gary Windass (Mikey North) who she has had a relationship with before.
There has always been an undeniable chemistry between the former lovers and the actress who plays Sarah, Tina, was upset when she discovered her character was moving on with the lawyer.
She said: “I was genuinely upset at first – not because I would be working with Sam, but because me and Mikey had worked together for three-and-a-half years – and it really did feel like the end of a relationship.
“But within seconds of working with Sam, I was like, ‘Oh, this will be fine – see ya, Mikey!'” the actress continued in an interview with Inside Soap.
However, will the actress be spending more time with the actor who plays Daniel, Rob, in the not so distant future?
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7:30pm and 8:30pm on ITV.
