Coronation Street fans went wild on Monday night after they recognised newcomer Danielle, who is played by Lucy Dixon, after she she was spotted with Curtis Delamere by Steve McDonald.

During the episode, Curtis (Sam Retford) was forced to tell Steve (Simon Gregson) about his "life-threatening" heart condition, which could see him "drop dead" at any second, after he was accused of cheating on Emma Brooker (Alexandra Mardell) with Danielle.

The ITV soap had previously teased that Curtis has been hiding something from Emma and things took a dramatic turn on Monday when he started to behave suspiciously.

Curtis decided to rush off from his charity calendar with Emma, pretending that he had a dental appointment, but he was soon spotted by Debbie Webster in The Bistro with Danielle "looking cosy".

And when Debbie let slip to Emma's dad Steve what she had witnessed, he rushed off to confront Curtis and demanded to know what was going on.

Steve accused him of cheating on his daughter to which Curtis revealed his "life-threatening" heart condition and explained that Danielle was from his "terminal illness support group".

However, soap watchers were left distracted over the scenes as they instantly recognised actress Lucy Dixon, who plays Danielle, from her past credits in Waterloo Road as Danielle Harker and Hollyoaks as Tilly Evans.

One person said: "Oh. I just realised that Curtis' friend Danielle on #Corrie is Lucy Dixon who everyone remembers as Tilly from #Hollyoaks."

A different viewer put: "Danielle from Waterloo Road? #Corrie."

Another follower commented: "Is the girl Curtis with, Danielle from Waterloo road #Corrie."

A different account penned: "Nice to see @lucy_dixon on #corrie liked her on Waterloo road and Hollyoaks."

While another soap watcher added: "It's good to see @lucy_dixon is back to our screens. #Corrie."

Later this week on the soap, Steve continues to support Curtis and even offers to accompany him in his taxi, which leaves wife Tracy (Kate Ford) confused and demanding an answer.

While Emma is also left furious after discovering the two have been spending time together despite Curtis ending things with her as he doesn't want her to know about his heart condition.
