Coronation Street fans were left majorly confused after re-runs of the soap showed Kirk Sutherland being called another name by his own sister, Maria Connor.
In an old episode of the ITV show that aired again this week on ITV3 for soap fans to enjoy, viewers were baffled to see Maria, played by Samia Longchambon, call Kirk, portrayed by Andy Whyment, by the wrong name.
In the scenes, Maria refers to her sibling as Mark, as opposed to Kirk, leaving viewers wondering whether his name had been changed since he first appeared in 2000, or if it was a huge slip-up.
After picking up on the detail, ITV viewers took to Twitter to discuss the small slip up in the history of the character.
One wrote: "Watching the old Corrie’s and I’m confused. Maria told Tyrone her brother was called Mark. Thought Kirk was her brother?"
Another added: "My theory is that they hadn’t decided he would be a regular character at this point, and when they decided to bring him back they changed his name to avoid confusion with Mark Redman."
While a third said: "I had to look it up to see if there was another brother but all I can find is Kirk?"
And some diehard fans decided to take matters into their own hands and do some research into the significant change for the character.
They wrote: "I googled him and for some reason bosses changed his name from Mark to Kirk, only in soapland."

According to Corriepedia, "Mark" Sutherland was originally going to be a one-off character before the hit show's bosses decided to make him a permanent role and renamed him Kirk.
The character first appeared on the show in May 2000, before Andy became a regular on the soap in October later on that year.
Since then, the former I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here contestant has become a firm fan fan favourite in Weatherfield and he recently signed a bumper deal to keep him on the cobbles for another year.
