Loose Women: Coleen Nolan on having an affair
Loose Women’s Wednesday panel were discussing how they define an affair when Coleen Nolan opened up about a personal experience.
She told her co-stars how she ended up having an affair whilst away from home, as she had been made to feel unloved in her relationship.
She explained how the man she had met had made her feel all the things she had lost sight of in the past.
Although she did not condone the act, she said it brought her closer together with her family.
Host Christine Lampard expressed how it helped open people’s eyes.
Coleen explained: “The reason it happened to me was because I was being made to feel rubbish and surplus to requirements.
“Not attractive and not loved, just there to look after people and clean the house or whatever.
“And then I went away on tour and met someone who made me feel like a gorgeous woman again and attractive.
“And built up my self-esteem that I had lost. It was an awful situation.

“And like I said I’m not condoning it because it brought lots of heartbreak at the time.
“But actually when the truth came out that relationship then went on for us to have the best two or three years of our relationship that we had ever had.
“Because I knew I had done wrong and I would never do it again but…I tried to talk to the person before it happened but they wouldn’t listen.
“And just took it for granted because they thought ‘Oh, she will get over it’.”
She said it was a wake-up call for her to make more of an effort in the future.
She had been on tour with the girl group The Nolans at the time of the affair.
Coleen continued: “In that respect [the affair] worked, but I could never do that again because it isn’t the answer.”
She was previously married to EastEnders star Shane Richie from 1990 to 1999 and Ray Fensome, from 2007 until 2018.
