Chilling moment Chris Watts finally confesses to murder after killing family

This is the chilling moment child killer Chris Watts finally confessed to murdering his wife.

The 35-year-old’s sickening crimes are the subject of new Netflix documentary American Murder: The Family Next Door.

It explores the events leading up to Watts killing his pregnant wife Shanann Watts and unborn son, Nico, as well as his three daughters – four-year-old Bella and three-year-old Celeste.

The twisted killer initially denied any involvement in the crimes, even giving interviews to news stations pleading for his family’s return.

But, after being arrested, his lies started to unravel when he failed a polygraph test.

Footage taken in custody and shared on the new Netflix documentary shows the moment Watts finally confessed to his father Ronnie.

He starts by claiming Shanann “hurt” his children, before saying: “And then I had to kill her.”

When Ronnie probes him about what happened, Watts says: “She smothered them [the children].

“They were, they were blue. I freaked out and did the same thing to her.”

Watts maintained for several days that his wife had killed their two daughters in a fit of rage after he had asked to separate.

But eventually, Chris admitted to murdering his two young daughters as well and was sentenced to five life sentences without parole.

The true story behind the horrific acts shocked the world.

On the morning of August 13, 2018, Watts decided to tell Shanann he had been having an affair. When she threatened to take away the children he put his hands around her neck and started to strangle her to death.

He wrapped his wife’s body in their bed sheet and dragged her into the truck, before strapping in his two girls in the backseat.

Watts then drove to an oil field site to bury Shanann. He then strangled Celeste by smothering her in a blanket. Bella was sitting next to her in the backseat the whole time, he said.

After Celeste stopped breathing, he threw her into an oil tank, locked the hatch and walked back to his truck.

In an interview with police, Watts said his second daughter then asked: “Is the same thing going to happen to me as Cece?”

He then grabbed the same blue blanket and killed Bella. Her last tragic words were: “Daddy, no.”
