Brookside and Coronation Street’s James Carroll has died suddenly.
The actor, who played Brian Humphreys in the Channel 4 soap, had previously been unwell with pneumonia, in 2020, but made a full recovery.
James also lived with a condition that meant the arteries in his brain could rupture at any time.
He featured in a documentary on YouTube, that saw James discuss what life is like living with the illness.
James’ friends and family have paid tribute on Facebook.
One post read:
‘Rest in peace pal. Thanks for the shows and laughs. Deepest condolences to family and friends. Surely a showbiz star will twinkle brighter now. Good night god bless to one of the finest gentlemen on this planet it was a pleasure to watch you perform and become great friends.’
James played the role of Brian in Brookside from 1988-1991.
Earlier this year, he paid a visit to the cobbles playing the role of Colin, a friend of Mary Taylor’s (Patti Clare).
