On Thursday morning, BBC Breakfast hosts Jon Kay and Naga Munchetty were back on the red sofa to bring viewers the latest news headlines. The duo spoke with a number of guests throughout the programme including Shadow Transport Secretary, Jim McMahon, and Boris Johnson’s deputy Dominic Raab. However, things quickly took a turn when Munchetty spoke with Raab about the Prime Minister’s northern railway plan.

The interview got rather heated as the host grilled the MP over Mr Johnson’s transport plans.

Munchetty accused the Prime Minister of not delivering his plans to the public.

Viewers were left angered by the “painful” interview, and many took to social media to air their frustration.

Twitter-user @midnightflyer said: “That was painful listening to Rabb just now. More red herrings from the government #BBCBreakfast.” (sic)

Jac raged: “Pointless #BBCBreakfast Dominic Raab appearance to discuss up and coming HS2 blunder and as usual not wishing to discuss anything he turns up for waste of space.”

Dave tweeted: “#bbcbreakfast What a dreadful interview with Raab just now. So weak. He just talked and talked. Lacklustre questioning.”

While Erasmo wrote: “Naga in full interrupting mode this morning.”

“Oh FFS! More pointless promises. If people believe a word of what Dominic Raab says then more fool them… #bbcbreakfast,” Mark commented.
