BBC battling to save Strictly after unjabbed dancers row sends bosses into meltdown

THE BBC was fighting to save Strictly last night as the row over unjabbed dancers sent bosses into meltdown.

The furious celeb partner of one of the three dancers refusing to have a Covid vaccine has told pals: “We should have beeen protected.”

Former legend James Jordan also called on the Beeb to name the refusenik dancers – and throw them off the show.

And PM Boris Johnson also interrupted his trip to meet US President Joe Biden to urge the trio to have their vaccines as soon as possible.

Last night it emerged the star – a household name on TV –  has had no idea that their new partner was unvaccinated while training together.

The celeb – who is pro-vaccine – was stunned by the failure of BBC bosses to secure their medical safety despite tough Covid bubble measures.

A friend said: “They just couldn’t believe that their partner would not have had a jab.

“Strictly is the biggest show on TV and has been trumpeting its anti-Covid measures throughout the pandemic.

“They thought they’d be protected so to discover their partner hasn’t even had a single jab is very worrying.

“The couple have already spent tens of hours practising together. Clearly, there is a lot of anger and a lot of questions to be asked.”

Former pro James Jordan urged the BBC to come clean and name the stars – or order them off the show.

He said: “If someone on this show get this virus and their immune system is really low and they die. I don’t believe they should be dancing and putting the whole cast of Strictly in jeopardy.”

Boris Johnson also waded into the row during his trip to the US ahead of talks with President Joe Biden.

The PM said: “Everyone should take their jabs. I’m not saying that in a hectoring or bullying way, but simply because I think it’s a great thing to do.”

Former Strictly dancer Kristina Rihanoff also the BBC should have checked if the pros had been double jabbed.

She said: “They should have checked everyone’s vaccination status and they probably knew there was going to be an issue with something like this on the show.

“So all of the celebrities and all of the professionals should have been chosen if they actually had a double vaccine.”
