A former bandmate revealed to The Telegram that his death "was not all of a sudden".

He remarked how Bruce had been unwell for a while and died earlier in the week, but his family wanted to keep matters private before releasing a statement

Bruce was best known for his hit song Can't Find the Time, which was originally released in 1969.

The song was revived by Hootie & the Blowfish and featured on the 2000 comedy Me, Myself & Irene, featuring Jim Carrey and Renee Zellweger.

Bruce founded Orpheus in 1967, and the band went on to release four albums and six singles when they were signed to MGM and Bell Records.

Throughout their career, the band played alongside some massive names, such as the Who, Led Zeppelin, Blood, Sweat & Tears and Janis Joplin.

After his death, stars and fans paid their respects with heartfelt tributes.

Actor Chuck Norris penned: "His God-given talents of writing, singing and playing the guitar were only matched by his ability to spread the gospel of Christ.

"We will cherish our memories and know his loving family will carry on his music and message."

Fellow musician Cliff Goodwin also commented: "A sad day. He was an absolutely lovely, lovely guy."

Arnold was also the pastor of a Church of the Open Door congregation in Point Reyes Station from 1975 to 1987.

Bruce is survived by wife, Judy Arnold, and his four children, John Mark, Oliver, Gray and Erin.
