Former X Factor star Jake Quickenden has revealed he moved back home days before discovering his girlfriend Sophie Church was pregnant.
The couple announced the birth of their first child together, a baby boy named Leo Oliver last week.
But the 32-year-old has now opened up on some earlier relationship struggles between the pair.
The Dancing on Ice champion told The Sun: "Sophie and I are obviously closer than ever but I'd actually moved out just before finding out she was pregnant."
He said that they’d found lockdown "really hard” and after arguing one too many times, he went back home to stay with his mum.
"We were never going to break up but we did need some time apart.”
In 2019 the couple tragically suffered a miscarriage at 6 weeks which left them devastated and caused them to “bicker” as a result.
He added: "I think the miscarriage puts a lot of pressure on you without you even really knowing it.
"We needed some time apart but then I moved back home and she told me she was pregnant and everything just immediately fit back into place again."
This is not the first time Jake has spoken candidly about his relationship troubles under the stress of lockdown.
Earlier this year he admitted to sleeping in the spare room for three days after a big argument stating he was in the "doghouse".
He explained: "Don't get me wrong, the first week was tough – we argued a lot. I think that was just a bit of teething. Suddenly we were together all the time.
"We had a big argument, we sorted it out and for the past two weeks we've had a right laugh."

With the birth of their son their relationship is going from strength to strength with Jake admitting he was planning on proposing soon.
He said: 'We both want to get married and I will definitely propose. It is just when the time is right. Maybe next year.'
He showed his excitement to be a new dad and said he was looking forward to teaching his child sports.
"I'm excited for everything, apart from the nappies,” he added.
“I'm not sure I will ever get used to that. And I'm a bit nervous about not knowing what to do. Babies are so little and vulnerable."
He recently posted a picture of Sophie after giving birth and he captioned it: “Massive shoutout to this superwoman… didn’t think I could love you anymore, turns out I was wrong!
“You’re an incredible mum and an amazing person, I’m so happy we get to raise Leo together!”
Earlier this week the couple were targeted by vile trolls who cruelly said they hoped the newborn baby would die.
Speaking to the Daily Star he said: “Unfortunately that’s the world we live in. You can get 100,000 lovely messages, but you’ll remember one nasty one.
