Queen guitarist Brian May is very active on social media, sharing his updates with fans including his personal highs and lows. Recently the 74-year-old has been a bit quieter following the release of his re-mastered Back to the Light single. But in a recent post sharing some more stunning fan art of the legend, he opened up with fans on the tough time he’s been going through mentally.

Brian began by thanking the fan artist for their latest picture of his head surrounded by stars.

The Queen guitarist wrote: “Wow ! Thank you @staring.at.stereos Bless you Lindsay. I can’t take my eyes off this portrait – for me it’s an astonishing capture of what is in my eyes at the best of times – an amazing likeness – and a glimpse of what I aspire to be.

“Yes – I’ve been quiet, lately – and I’m sorry if that seems uncaring to you who give me so much support here on IG. But something happened to me.

“I think a few things conspired to stop me in my tracks and make it hard for me to open my heart like I have done in the past. I suddenly knew I had to take a step back and really examine what I was doing here.”
