A woman was left with pubic hairs growing out of her finger after she got a skin graft.

Rae Mackzie, from the USA, had the procedure done when she was a toddler.

She told TikTok : "When I was two years old, my mum slammed a door shut on my finger.

"It ripped off the top of my finger and this was back in the 1990s so I got a skin graft."

According to the NHS, “a skin graft is where healthy skin is removed from an unaffected area of the body and used to cover lost or damaged skin”.

This is often done by taking skin from the arms, legs or large surface areas of the body.

But as doctors wanted the skin to grow with the toddler as she got older, they decided to take skin from her bikini line to repair her damaged finger.

Rae’s recovery didn’t go as well as she’d hoped – especially as she got the area wet.

The TikToker continued: "I dunked my hand instead the toilet and it got wet inside the cast so my finger healed wrong and it turned brown which is really weird."

Then to make matters worse, hairs started growing out of the graft when Rae hit puberty.

This led to her being teased by cruel classmates.

Rae said: "When I hit puberty and I started growing hair down there, I also started growing hair on my finger.

"Kids found that out in school and started calling me 'Coochie-Finger'."

The video was viewed more than five million times – and it even caught the attention of Dr Sandra Lee.

The American dermatologist, who is also known as Dr Pimple Popper, reassured Rae that she’s not alone.

Dr Sandra said: "You're not the only one with a pubic finger or how you say, 'coochie finga’.

"This is one of my lovely patients who has a scrotal thumb.

"It's not uncommon to see genital tissue used as a graft to repair trauma that has occurred on the palm or other surfaces of the hand.

"This tissue we know is more stretchy, more moveable and we need that in this hyper-mobile area.

"Just a tip, you may want to keep hair trimmed or plucked because they are technically pubic hairs."
