Primark, with its hundreds of bargains, is without-a-doubt one the UK’s best-loved retailers. The country has been plunged into its third, national shutdown, which has meant all non-essential shops have been forced to close. And while Brits could argue for days about all the reasons Primark is definitely essential, the Government didn’t see things quite in the same way. So for those who have run out of socks, underwear and other essentials, one dominant question is when Primark can reopen its doors to customers once more?
When is Primark opening?
Prime Minister Boris Johnson gave the go-ahead for the next stage of the economy reopening on Monday.
That means non-essential shops will be able to reopen as previously expected, on April 12.
Luckily for Primark fans everywhere, that includes the discount retailer.
Primark will open its doors to customers again on Monday, April 12, meaning it’s just a few days left to wait until the big day.
All stores across England and Wales will comply with the opening date.
The hope also remains another 20 branches of Primark will be able to reopen in Scotland by the end of April, depending on the situation in the country.
Another bout of good news for those worried about queuing times as everyone flocks to Primark, is that they’ll be open for longer.
The retail giant has said it is planning to extend its opening hours from Monday, with stores open for an extra two hours on average.
Following Government guidance, there will continue to be strict social distancing guidelines in place, including limiting the number of shoppers in store.
Opening times will vary by store as the new hours are designed to reduce queues, spread demand and give people more time to shop safely.
Paul Merchant, Primark chief executive, said: “Safety remains at the forefront of our minds.
“We have extended opening hours across almost all of our stores to help meet demand safely.

“We are also asking our customers to keep up the support and spirit they showed last year, particularly if queuing outside or in-store.”
On the subject of reopening amid the Prime Minister’s Monday announcement, Mr Marchant said: “It’s great to be back.
“Our stores are fully stocked with fresh new season fashion, all at Primark’s famously amazing prices.
“Between our great value, everyday must-haves and hot new season trend collections, we’ve got everything our customers have been waiting for.”
Primark reopened on December 2, 2020, after the second month-long lockdown, in an effort to make up for lost money and time.
But a fresh lockdown amid surging COVID-19 cases plunged Primark back into closures in January.
As previously mentioned, Primark will be implementing extended opening hours across stores once again next Monday.
