The restaurant my husband and I met in is being demolished – we're devastated | The Sun

DEAR DEIDRE: THE restaurant my husband and I met in 30 years ago is being sold and demolished. I’m devastated.

I’m 49, and my husband’s 58.

It’s an incredibly special place for us. We met when we were on a double date – but not with each other.

When our dates went to the toilet at the same time, we got talking and it was love at first sight.

We ending up having our wedding reception in the restaurant’s function room and we’ve celebrated every anniversary with a meal on their outdoor terrace.

I even discovered I was pregnant with my first child in their bathroom.

The issue is, our anniversary is coming up next month and I have no idea what to do to celebrate it.

Everything my husband suggests just doesn’t seem right.

DEIDRE SAYS: It probably isn’t the restaurant you’re attached to, but rather the many memories you’ve made inside it.

You will still have these, even if the building itself is no longer standing.

Rather than seeing this as the end of an era, see it as the start of a new tradition.
