Spoilers: Grieving Mackenzie set for breakdown in Neighbours?

Having lost Hendrix Greyson (Ben Turland) so suddenly, Neighbours’ Mackenzie Hargreaves (Georgie Stone) is struggling with the fact that life just keeps keeping on. To the outside world she seems to be coping remarkably well, but does the inside tell a different story?

Mackenzie is beside herself when she has to pick up Hendrix’s ashes, and she and Chloe (April Rose Pengilly) both struggle to accept how on Earth this is all happening. Mackenzie knows how grief works; she prepares herself for some tough times to come, but this involves her supressing her emotions to delay dealing with her loss.

This of course isn’t in the slightest bit healthy and could prompt a terrible spiral from the widowed newlywed.

Her first big challenges are the memorials held in Erinsborough and Sydney, which are polar opposites to each other. The first is a big party, celebrating the energy that Hendrix brought to life. In Sydney, the vibe couldn’t be more different as a much more sombre affair. Mackenzie stoically ploughs on, visiting the places he took her to. She finds comfort in this and feels it’s her chance to truly say goodbye.

Having found her own closure, she gives Harlow (Jemma Donovan) the green light to seek out her dreams and head off to London. But is the strength Mack is showing all a fallacy? When dad Grant arrives in town to support his grieving daughter, a concerned Toadie (Ryan Moloney) shares that he is surprised how well Mack is coping. Is the seemingly strong Mackenzie about to crumble?

Scenes air from Monday June 20 on Channel 5.
