DEAR DEIDRE: MY partner drinks every evening and it causes me so much distress. I hate it.
He is 30, I am 27 and we have a boy of three.
I wouldn’t say my partner is an alcoholic but he has an unhealthy relationship with booze.
He never misses work but he is a different man from the moment he gets home and opens the first can.
I have tried to tell him how I feel but he just thinks I’m moaning.
I worry how this could affect our son but have run out of ideas on how to get through to my partner.

DEIDRE SAYS: You are right to worry – your partner is dependent on alcohol and it is affecting your son.
He’s picking up a message that booze means more to his dad than he does.
Tell your partner that drinking every night is damaging all of you and he must get help if he can’t stop under his own steam.
